COMPOSER || SONGWRITER || SINGER || PIANIST || TV HOST

Olsa Toqi is a composer, songwriter and pianist. In Albania she is recognized as the First Albanian Woman composer to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the first woman composer in the Balkan to compose and stage the World Premiere of a Modern Opera with Technology, both in Italy in 2018 and in Albania in 2022.

About Me

Born in Tirana, Olsa’s musical journey began at the age of six, studying piano at the renowned “Jordan Misja” Artistic Lyceum. A prodigious talent, she graduated with highest honors in composition from the University of Arts in Tirana. By ten, she was already a familiar face on national television as a children’s show host, and soon after, made her mark on the music scene with her debut hit “Nëse ti,” quickly becoming one of Albania’s most promising young songwriters. Her rise continued with impactful collaborations, including the political anthem “Ma kthe qytetin tim” alongside Ermal Mamaqi. In 2016, her song “Fairytale,” performed by Eneda Tarifa, won Albania’s most prestigious music competition and represented the country on the global stage at Eurovision, reaching over 180 million viewers. The song was co-produced with Jerry Meehan, celebrated producer and bassist for Robbie Williams. In 2018, Olsa made history as the first woman composer from the Balkans to premiere a modern opera in Italy, with Meladramma staged at the iconic Teatro del Giglio in Lucca. The opera later made its way to the Albanian stage in 2022. Now based in Canada, Olsa continues to craft bold, genre-defying works that blend tradition with innovation, shaping a powerful, evocative artistic voice that resonates globally.
